Most bloggers already know the importance of getting links to their web site in order to get higher rankings in search engines and more visitors as a result. But did you know that the best links are those that are natural recommendations? In other words, if you want to be found on the Internet, it’s all about reciprocity - all about linking to the best web sites that will draw the type of traffic you want on your site.
Linking to other web sites that share a similar or complimentary subject, tone or audience can boost your traffic substantially. I initially experienced an eight-fold increase in visitors and search engine ranking just a week after adding a simple Link2Me script at the end of each of my blog post, making it very easy for visitors to link to individual articles on my site. If you run a Wordpress based blog, you can do the same, you’ll find the plugin here.
If you’re running a standard web site, don’t worry. You can still build traffic by linking to the pages of any web site in your niche area. So, if you’re an arts organisation, for example, you might want to link to specific writers of artists who compliment the type of work you do and have them link back to you in return.
Remember - the words you put on a web site have no real meaning until they get read. And those same words will gain no real prominence in search engines or produce vistors to your site until they get linked to. So, with that in mind, you could start today by linking to my writer’s blog below. Do drop me a line to let me know and I’ll link right back to you in retrun. You’ll find the external links on my blog in the right-hand column under “Worth A Look” which continually displays a random list of six rotating links on each page.
Alternatively, you could just add a commnet against any post on my blog and include your website address for an automatic link back to your site. You could even include a different page address from your site for each commnet you leave on mine and get a link back to each of them. I won’t consider it spamming, if you’ve got something genuinely useful to say.
Good luck with your online marketing, then.
