I am a freelance copywriter, scriptwriter and editorial consultant, regularly working in the areas of ad copywriting, marketing and PR, while specializing in targeting black minority ethnic (BME) communities through the arts, business and educational printed resources.
I’ve been involved in publishing since receiving a youth business grant from The Prince’s Trust to launch BetterDay Cards in 1986. More recently, I was Editor and CEO of Drum Media Ltd - delivering the ground-breaking, bi-monthly lifestyle magazine, Drum, to WH Smiths, Borders, Virgin Megastores and over 5,000 independent retailers throughout Britain.
As a creative writer since 1991, I have delivered scripts for radio, stage and screen as well as numerous feature articles for print and online publications. I have conducted regular interviews with subjects as diverse as Jazz photographer Herman Leonard, Parkour founder Sebastien Foucan, and supermodel Alex Wek.
I am a regular contributor to discussion programmes on radio and television and also the recipient of various writing and business awards including prestigious accolades such as advising The Power Commission and invitation to meet The Queen.
My recent freelance work has involved writing suitably compelling copy and ads for a wide range of media, including print, web, radio, mobile phones and the back end of a bus. I firmly believe all writing should be great, no matter at what level it may be pitched.
